By nurturing the connection between plants, people, and the planet, we aim to build a better future for all. Here are some of our key initiatives that reflect our dedication to environmental and social responsibility.
Rooted in Sustainability and Responsibility
Organic & Regenerative Farming
We cultivate certified organic herbs on our 350-acre farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our regenerative farming practices not only ensure the highest-quality herbs but also enhance soil health, promote biodiversity, and protect ecosystems.
Through careful crop rotation, composting, and minimal soil disturbance, we improve land resilience and promote carbon sequestration, helping to reduce our overall footprint on the planet.
Carbon Neutrality and Waste Reduction
We work tirelessly to reduce our carbon footprint operational waste - from the byproduct of our herbal supplements to our carbon emissions. We diligently monitor and report on our company-wide greenhouse gas emissions, and implement carbon sequestration measurements on our Farm to understand the impact of regenerative agriculture practices. We also make concerted efforts to markedly decrease our operational waste going to landfills through careful measuring and reporting. These measurements allow us to understand our environmental impact in our facilities, at our Farm, and on landfills, and adopt sustainability efforts to decrease our greenhouse gas emissions and decrease our waste.
Sustainable Packaging
Using glass as our packaging material reflects our commitment to both your well-being and the health of the planet. Glass is infinitely recyclable making it less harmful for the planet. It also helps protect the purity and potency of our herbal supplements, preserving their shelf life without the risk of BPAs and harmful chemical leaking from plastic.
Ethical Sourcing & Fair Labor Practices
We source herbs from around the world with an emphasis on fair labor practices and sustainability throughout our supply chain. Our suppliers meet rigorous environmental and social standards, and we maintain complete transparency through our Seed-to-Supplement traceability program.
At home, our employees are our most important stakeholders, and we take our commitment to our employees seriously. Gaia Herbs is proud to be Living Wage Certified, a Blue Zones Certified Worksite, and offer employee wellness benefits to support quality of life for our team – on site and remote.
Social Impact & Wellness Initiatives
We are dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve by supporting local and global wellness programs, including providing herbal supplement donations, investing in environmental restoration efforts, and partnering with organizations that promote health education and access to natural products.
Each year, every Gaia Herbs employee receives 20 hours of paid volunteer time off (VTO) to donate time to mission-aligned organizations and initiatives throughout our local communities.
