Walter Crinnion, ND

Professional Background:

Walter J. Crinnion, ND, is an accomplished teacher, writer, and lecturer who specializes in chemical sensitivity and environmental illness. He is a professor at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he is chair of the Environmental Medicine Department. Dr. Crinnion received his degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, in 1982 with their first graduating class. He then opened a family practice and began to specialize in allergies and in treating chronic health problems caused by environmental chemical overload. In 1985, Dr. Crinnion started the most comprehensive cleansing facility in North America for the treatment of chemically poisoned individuals.

Dr. Crinnion is a frequent lecturer at integrative medical conferences across the country. Well known for his contribution to a variety of publications, he has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals on the topic of environmental overload. A member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians Board of Directors, Dr. Crinnion was the recipient of the association’s first award for in-office research in 1999 and was awarded it a second time in 2002 as well as receiving the 2004 Physician of the Year award. He has taught at Bastyr University, the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and the University of Bridgeport School of Naturopathic Medicine. In 2001, he appeared three times with Barbara Walters on ABC’s “The View” and had a weekly Health Spot on Northwest Cable News from 1999 until 2003, giving viewers in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho up-to-date information on nutrition and health.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Crinnion has authored numerous articles and papers in such publications as Townsend Letter for Doctors, Health Consciousness, Natural Health Review, Health Counselor, Doctor’s Health Review, Delicious Living, Organic Gardening Almanac, Health Food Business, Issues in Naturopathic Medicine Anthology, Journal of Naturopathic Medicine, Alternative Medicine Review, and International Journal of Naturopathic Medicine, as well as others.
